 ASSESSMENT RESULTS

The assessment benchmarks indicate what you can do in English or French. High benchmarks usually indicate high English or French language skill levels. Benchmark results may be different for each of the language skills. To learn more about Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), please visit the Benchmarks Section.
The Online Self-Assessment results are unofficial and cannot be used for employment, academic, immigration or citizenship purposes. They are intended to give you an approximate indication of your language ability in English or French. These results can inform planning and decision making towards achieving language training, settlement, and career-related goals.

For more information on the purposes and appropriate uses of the Online Self-Assessment, please visit the About Us Page.
Upon completing an assessment, your approximate benchmark range will be displayed, and the “Send Results” option will be available. Also, you can send your most recent test results by clicking “Send Results”, which can be found in “User Dashboards”. However, CLB-OSA does not keep a record of all the test results. For a step-by-step guide on how to send your assessment results to your email, please watch the “Emailing Results” video.
As CLB-OSA results are unofficial, they cannot be used for citizenship purposes. For information regarding language requirements for citizenship, please refer to the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada website at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility/language-proof.html
The official CLB-based language assessments such as CLBA and CLBPT are not intended for university admission. Most universities require IELTS, TOEFL, CAEL or CanTEST as part of the admission process. We encourage you to contact the Admissions Office at the University of your Interest and inquire about their admission requirements and results they accept for proof of language proficiency.
CLB-OSA results are unofficial, and cannot be used for immigration purposes. For information regarding language requirements for immigrating to Canada, please visit https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/results-by-topic.asp?top=6
